Look at me (2010)
oil on canvas
100 x 80
A year before I had been painting fashion models. Those paintingstings were completely devoid of meaning and were really meant as being completely irrelevant. But painting society characters strangely enough gave more clarity to my objective: namely  It became clear to me  that I wanted to paint meaningless things because of the social engaement I had. I just needed time off.

I gave value to something that was to me completely devoid of value. I felt free when painting because it all didn't matter anyway. Whatever I painted wasn't worth grieving for. The value lay within the fact that I could freely enjoy painting without concern. No misery, no pain, just happy people living today. No worries.
